Qatar : Visa waiver to be introduced
The State of Qatar is poised to remove the visa fees for 80 nationalities.

When is comes to Qatar, we currently think about 3 things:

- Fifa World Cup set to kick in in 2022

- Neymar transfer to Paris 

- Qatar Airways

With the blocade in place for nearly 2 months, The State of Qatar wants to stimulate tourism and Qatar Airways.

With that in mind, the Tourism Development Manager in Qatar along with QR CEO just annonced that 80 nationalites will be granted a visa on arrival for free.

The list is as follow :

The below section details the new visa waiver eligibility for citizens of the 80 countries.

Entry to Qatar is approved at the sole discretion of Qatar’s Ministry of Interior.

A) Nationals of the following 33 countries will not require prior visa arrangements and can obtain a visa waiver upon arrival in Qatar. The waiver will be valid for 180 days from the date of issuance and entitle its holder to spend up to 90 days in Qatar, during either a single trip or on multiple trips.

B) Nationals of the following 47 countries will not require prior visa arrangements and can obtain a visa waiver upon arrival in Qatar. The waiver will be valid for 30 days from the date of issuance and entitle its holder to spend up to 30 days in Qatar, during either a single trip or on multiple trips. This waiver may be extended for a further 30 days.

It represents an opportunity for sure but I doubt that Qatar can Compete with Dubai for Tourism travellers.

It's a good news for QR since they are expanding at a fast pace.

For this summer QR proposed for a ticket bought a free visa and 1 night accomodation. I really enjoyed the opportunity to spend time in Qatar.

I have another booking where I'll be staying again one night in Doha.

It's a great news and looking forward to see if there is a destination change for travellers.
