Prologue:
After a sleepless night, I left the hotel at 8:00am. I’ve read that TP’s lounge is nothing to write home about reason for late arrival in the airport.A beautiful day to fly.
TP offers a dedicated check-in for premium pax. Fast and courteous. Then I proceed to fast track and lounge.
The lounge itself is not small but not big either.
It was packed when I arrived and quick tour to the breakfast spread… I did not grab anything.
Close to the bar I managed to find a place to seat… How clean is that !?!? Very premium experience !
All in all I spent 20min and it was time to head to the boarding gate.
On the way to the gate I enjoyed the views.
Just 5 min after I arrived boarding begun. Like almost all departures on the 339 from LIS you are boarding by bus not my cup of tea but it’s fine a good way to spot. I guess the trend will continue as the demand for flying is up.

I have seen reports about the cabin and wanted to check myself. The cabin looks cramped (yeah even for a guy that worships MS).
I assigned myself a real window seat given that you might pick one with a direct access to the aisle. While It’s a no for me since I need to have the view
Couple seat where many argued to get those middle seats.
Flying time today just under 12h. Lucky for me we were on time.

Orange juice that tasted like my pills to heal my stomach flu with nuts. You had also the choice to get still water and champagne.
Worked pretty well.
Taxing was fast and so was air borne. I’m impressed by how quiet the flight can be.
TOGA !
Menu and kit were handed out. Once in the air the purser came to me to welcome me and thanking me for flying TP. She asked me what I wanted to have for the main before others I assume It’s linked to my Gold Status.
The menu looks fine except for light snack arrival. AF used to serve something hot. Too bad it’s not the case here.
Lunch started 1h after we took off. Starter was fine.
TP uses a tray which is not premium. The soup was fine but nowhere near the soup you can find on TK. The salad was bland the fish filet was tasty though.
Coming up next : The main. The taste was there but it was drenched with gratin juice. It should have been more structured.
The most disappointing part of the meal was dessert. I picked the 3 items. Ice cream was completely liquid the cheese was not cheesy. Orange slices were fine.
After a so-so meal I decided to take a well-deserved rest. I removed my jean and slept few hours before waking up and fall asleep again. The seat was comfortable to sleep even in Z shape.

I then watched few movies and stayed in touch with family thanks to the free messaging plan until the light meal arrived. If you need 200mb it will cost you 25euros. Not cheap. With TK is free for J pax. The light meal was... Average at best.
Picture that... Way to narrow.
Eventually we landed on time...
But when we parked the jetbridge was not working and we had to wait ovr 35 min to get it fixed..
After 2H35 min of immigration I'm out!

Summary:
Disappointing experience. Nice price however, don't come with high expectations.The lounge is just a bloody disaster. The seat is quite cramped even if comfy for sleeping.
The crew was fine.
The catering was average at best.

Usually for a 12 hours flight it should be a hot meal before landing
The lunch meal was not good and the cold meal not better
It seems that the catering is one TP weak point

At least the seat was comfortable to take rest and sleep

All in all a rather bad flight with TP
Even with a good fare like you had I wouldn't fly with them

ReplyWow! the TP LIS lounge is really disappointing for a "hub" lounge. I can't believe that the catering is more diverse and more hot options are offered.
Boarding by bus allows you to get close to the plane and take some nice pics but it is such a hassle. Aboard the catering on TP is a major letdown. The menu design is not the most appealing either.
The second meal is a joke for a flight this long.
Sorry to hear about the long lines and the incident with the jetbridge. It seems that one thing added to another - a perfect storm of some sort.
You must have felt so relieved when you got out.

Glad we were able to do some plane spotting right after. Fresh air is great after being "cooked" up in Immigrations & Customs.

The moving-map system has a nice resolution. Did you have movies in French ? (it's important because, as a French guy, I speak English like a Spanish cow.)
Good point; it seems that you were not obliged to close your window during bedtime. (it's important because, as a ouaf, I never sleep on board and I hate closing my window)
Bad point is the catering.
