Prologue:

We continue with this RTW trip flying HKG-SIN with SQ.

Back when I was searching for a one way trip from HKG to Europe FRA was the cheapest destination and SQ was offering it for around USD 720 in Premium Eco. which was not bad at all considering that LH and CX were asking for over $1.000+ on the non-stop.

On top of that I had the opportunity to layover in SIN for the night and see the Jewel which is the new mall development with the water cascade.

Originally I was supposed to take a night flight after 7:00P but I found out that the 3p one was an A380 and I decided to arrive earlier to see if SQ will allow me to switch. To my surprise the agent confirmed me on the flight and waived the change fee as a courtesy.

Going through security was quick.

Entrance to SQ lounge. I can't believe that the WC's inside have not been fixed yet. This renovation is taking years and guests have to go to the ones outside right next to the lounge.

The lounge is pretty comfortable with different sections. Not particularly big but well appointed.

So far I have been on the AF BA and LH A380. I was excited to add SQ to the list.

Y+ cabin located in the front of the lower deck right under the staircase.

Originally I was assigned row 33 on the bulkhead but right before closing the door I moved to a couple seat in row 35.

I asked the crew if I could move and he gave me the OK. The staff made a note of my new seat location and I saw them input it on the tablet.

Time to relax.

Service commenced with drinks.

Online menu. I had pre-ordered a chicken curry from "Book the Cook" on the late flight but obviously when I changed flights the meal did not transfer so I chose the pork dish.

Meal was well presented and the pork was a solid choice.

Champagne for all those who wanted throughout the flight.

Landing in SIN.

During the flight I mentioned to one of the crew that this was my first time with SQ A380 and the inflight manager escorted me upstairs to tour the J and F cabins.

After the plane landed the flight manager showed me one of the suites in F and explained that the bulkhead one can be converted into a bed.

Summary:

SQ passed with flying colors as expected. I was lucky to ride on the A380 and allowed to be transferred to the earlier flight without charge.

The service was nothing short of phenomenal from the staff. Attentive, friendly, smiling and always proactive. Just perfection. The tour of the premium cabins was a highlight and made this flight even more memorable.

The hardware could be the about the same across companies but it's the human touch that sets it apart. Couldn't agree more my friend.

Cost free and it makes such a smooth experience, you want to book with the airline that allows that. I love to see empowered agents.

The service was nothing short of phenomenal from the staff. Attentive, friendly, smiling and always proactive. Just perfection. The tour of the premium cabins was a highlight and made this flight even more memorable.

When you compete, the service is what will help to lock you as client for years to come.
The suite... it reminds me my flight, such a delight!

I shared you same opinion. Empowered agents especially in a service industry are always a plus.

We all know SQ service is legendary. ;) the question I have is would you prefer SQ F over AF F?

Hi Serge,

N'oubliez pas que les repas en Y+ sont les mêmes qu'en Y. C'est peut-être médiocre pour Y+ mais pour Y c'est très bon.

L'apéritif aux crevettes et le choix de 3 repas sont bien meilleurs qu'une salade et 2 choix (généralement du poulet ou des pâtes) servis par d'autres concurrents.

Really nice that you were able to change flights for a fee and fly onboard this beautiful A380.
The premium cabin looks very comfortable and the crew was great!!
The meal without being exceptional does the job very well.

Hi mon ami,

I changed the flight for free. ;) The A380 was worth it. Now I have to find a way to fly on Emirates A380 one of these days.

It's a good thing that you can always order "Book the Cook" with SQ when flying Y+. I originally had an Indian meal on the later flight but because of this last minute change they couldn't transfer it. Perfectly fine and understood.
