Prologue:

Welcome to the continuation of my TLS trip. After my arrival in FRA I now have a 6 hrs. layover.

As a *A Gold I had access to the Senator lounges but I had a more interesting proposition. Just before my trip I found out that LH was selling access to the F lounge at the "A" gates for EUR 150. I was planning to purchase this at the last minute but my friend Thomas alerted me that LH raised the admission to EUR 200 which was still reasonable.

I was aware that a lot of LH own HON members and elites were upset about this profit generating move and described it as a slap on their faces. Over at Flyertalk at the LH forum there was discussion about this. When Thomas told me about the fee increase I was afraid that LH could further increase the admission price as it got closer to my travel date or even worse suspend the access to their F lounge through payment so I decided to purchase it right away. I'm glad I did this because a few days later they suspended the sales of access to the F lounge altogether.

We took the bus after deplaning and were deposited inside the terminal. Then we waited at Passport Control and finally I was able to head to the A gates for paradise.

I used the elevator and when the door opened I was greeted by an agent who checked for proof of vaccination before entering the lounge.

I couldn't find the QR code on my phone and asked the reception agent to use a computer to access my email. When I purchased the pass I was provided with a QR code but for some reason my phone was unable to access it.

I used one of the offices and printed the page for the agent. She asked if I was interested in a tour of the facility but I declined and asked for a shower instead. She immediately escorted me to the concierge who guided me to my shower room.

When I inquired about Alexandra Rosé the attendant said that they might not have it and offered me 3 other samples.

Summary:

The highlight of this report was the LH F lounge at "A" gates. It was a fantastic experience that is rarely available to someone who was flying Y with no elite status with LH.. Pre-covid this lounge was only available for F pax and paid access was available to HON members only for EUR 300 flying in Y or EUR 200 in J.

So when I paid EUR 200 I still thought that this was a great deal and one of your rare opportunities that one must take advantage of. My only regret is that I wish that I could spend more time inside the lounge.

The flight on LH City Line was smooth and a short one. LH was offering an upgrade for EUR 79 but I passed since this was not a good value. Basically you are paying for a guaranteed empty seat next to you and a slightly better meal, probably a cold one too.

As you can see from my report I ended up having an empty seat next to me and already dined well at the F lounge. It's a shame that LH decided to go Buy on Board on intra-European flights. At least they give you free water and a chocolate.
