Prologue:

Welcome to this trip report to warm Hawaii on a chilly February day. When AS purchased VX it assumed many of its routes at SFO and this one to HNL is one of those so I was really looking forward to it.

After security there was this display celebrating Chinese New Year.

AS lounge which used to be AA back when they were at this terminal. AS is the only US domestic airline that grants lounge access to F pax. The rules have changed somehow and now short hauls no longer qualify for this benefit. I believe that you need to be in F on a flight over 2.100 miles now.

Lounge is comfortable and just the right size for AS.

I ordered a strawberry drink which was a special of the month.

Unfortunately AS doesn't use glasses or plates so everything is served in disposable material.

Summary:

AS proved to be a nice experience although not quite as good as HA. No pre-dept drinks, no pillows or printed menus. The blanket provided was quilted and good quality. The crew was really friendly and that's a big plus.
