Why EgyptAir Plus is one of the Best Star Alliance Program?
I've been an EgyptAir Plus member for the last 4 months. I'm currently Gold with the airline. Let me outline why you should take a closer look at MS loyalty program.
For those of you who haven't read my report to Tokyo with Egypt Air let me share with you why I believe MS Plus is one of the best program within the Star Alliance Network.
While Aegan or Turkish Airlines are known for a quick Gold card status and have a well rounded FFP, MS is for me the underrated right choice.
Well, here's why I picked MS and why I fly MS:
1/ awardwallet.com digged out the fine print of MS Plus. It turns out as couple or family you can pool the miles. Not ground-breaking I know. What is then ? The fact that you pool your miles AND Status. For example, the Silver card comes at 30k miles. If you take with your wife on a CDG-SIN-HKG with SQ in Y you will earn 32K miles in the main account holder. The other side of the coin is your wife will never get a status. My wife calls the MS Plus, the selfish FFP….
2/ It takes only 60K miles to hit Gold and from that point on, you need to fly 30K within 2 years to renew… Easy.
3/ The lifetime Platinum card comes at 1 million and I plan to hit that level in the next 4, 5 years.
4/ Now why MS? While most airlines are stingy giving miles and status. MS does not fall into that category. You earn 200% in business class AND on top of that you also get a 20% Bonus for Silver or 30% for Gold or 40% for Plat, the good thing is the bonus counts toward your status. Now do the math…
5/ Awards chart look fairly priced. I was able to snag a F seat with LH for my mom.
Up until now, it was a pain to redeem miles since you either had to call MS's office (where they have a sale office) or at the airport. Not the easiest way for a last minute booking. MS eventually introduced last week on their website the possibility to redeem miles online. Not only to can book with MS but you can also redeem for LH First.
70k miles for Los Angeles in First with LH? Yes please.
For me, signing-up with MS Plus makes sense if you fly EgyptAir for the bonus. The family pool option is unique in the industry.
