Prologue:
Welcome to this nostalgic TR that I took at the end of 2006 on AF from CDG-Montreal, two of the largest francophone cities in the world at the time. Nowadays the title for 2nd largest francophone city belongs to Kinshasa.I wish that there were more pics for this TR but I think that there is enough amount to warrant a TR. Back then I was not as detailed when it came to taking pics for a report and emphasized mainly on the catering aspect.
I took the RER to get to the airport and my flight departed from gate F49 in 2F. Check in was efficient and I made my way to the AF Affaires lounge there. I thought that CDG T2 was a pretty terminal but all those sub terminals made it challenging for connections since you were required to go through security again if you were changing in between terminals.
The lounge was rather small with basic packaged snacks and a few sandwiches during certain times. I visited this lounge before so I used some pics from a previous trip.
My plane at the gate.
Boarding was orderly and upon entering a FA greeted me and then pointed me to my seat. The flight was not very full today and there were a lot of open seats. It was perhaps 50% full in J.
Looking out the window. It's a beauty.
Pre-departure drinks were offered and after take off service began with a hot towel and menu distribution. Drink served with cashews.
Prepared duck foie gras flavored with champagne and apricot-fig chutney.
Une pensée pour GG. ;)
Shrimp with basil and marinated fennel with lemon. Yes I asked to sample another appetizer :P
Veal accompanied by sauteed vegetables and artichokes prepared with white wine olive oil and garlic.
Camembert Fourme d'Ambert Sainte-Maure. I started to eat the cheese plate when I realized that I had to take a pic. Sorry for the mess.
Chocolate pastry and sherbets served with petit fours sec.
I read a book in the meantime and a few hours later it was time for the second meal - Brochette of dried fruit pastrami fresh goat cheese with Poilane bread.
Meanwhile the sun was setting outside.
Some shots of my visit. Enjoy!

Summary:
I enjoyed this flight in part because the FA that I had was proactive and engaging. He even shook passengers' hands thanking them for flying AF, which was a nice touch and left a very positive impression. The meal service was good but the snack before arrival was a lackluster.. The appetizers were really nice and I enjoyed the veal dish. The portion for the snack before arrival seemed like a teaser and from an airline like AF one would expect a more apt representation of French gastronomy.

Hum you know how to set the bar ! The bonus gives me the desire to bake my cake !
All in all a great flight with AF. Thanks mate.
Glad I was able to encourage you to practice your baking skills. ;)
Hello Adan!
Thank you for this archive which is very complete!
the crews are really the strong point of AF.
Vert nice bonus.
Thank you for sharing my friend
I agree with you. Most of the crew that I have encountered with AF have been professional and top notch.
Thanks Panda ! Once again, a delightful report, the pastries at the end are top notch ! I find the meal to be very good.
It was a good trip for sure. The first meal was quite enjoyable. The second one not so much.
Thanks for sharing this TR
" Drink served with cashews."
Where is your cranberry juice/vodka ?
"Une pensée pour GG. ;)"
Thanks for thinking (but not sharing your foie gras ^^)
A really good meal (thanks to the second entree)
The second meal is disappointing
Gorgeous pictures from a Paris lover
See you soon
"Where is your cranberry juice/vodka ?"
- Half cranberry, half orange juice, sometimes a splash of sparkling water with a twist of lemon. ;)
"but not sharing your foie gras ^^"
- You start by eating with your eyes first. :P
"Gorgeous pictures from a Paris lover"
- It's easier when you have a muse.
Ciao.
A very good report.
I'm impressed by the quality of your photos knowing that they were taken 14 years ago. A very good trip.
Ah Paris. I guess the price tag for the pastries are much higher now!
Cheers Panda!

I've always been inspired by Paris ;) Yes our cameras were not that advanced back then.
I'm always impressed by the old masters of photography like Cartier-Bresson who at the time did not have the most sophisticated equipment compared to what we have nowadays but were still able to produce compelling pictures that grab the viewer's attention.
Everything goes up I guess. ;)
Hello Panda and thanks for sharing this report
great catering on board but poor at the lounge in my opinion
It's so true that the lounge offering at the time was not the best. I'm afraid that we will be going back to packaged snacks at the lounges in the near future. The days of self serving buffet are gone for now I'm afraid.
A nice report dear Panda. Thanks for this lovely TR.
Thanks for your comments. See you later.
