Prologue:
Hello and welcome to the continuation of my flight to MIA.I arrived at IAH with about 1:30 hr layover. I immediately headed to the AMEX Centurion and KL Crown lounges. Unfortunately at the KL lounge I was turned away due to capacity and was referred to the AF lounge nearby.
The flight to MIA was full and to make matters worse there was a child behind who kicked the seat from time to time. Thankfully the flight was short.
Access to the AMEX is hidden through a pair of elevators by the Duty Free shop.
Upon entering I was warmly greeted by a nice agent. Southern Texans hospitality at its best.
The lounge was full. I was lucky to find a single table with a chair.
Bar & dining room area which was equally full.
Meals by celebrity chef Justin Yu.
Decent lunch with agua de Jamaica (Hibicus flower drink) that has an acidic taste. A staple Mexican drink.
WC's were clean and had L'Occitane toiletries.
AF lounges outside of France tend to be very inconsistent. Some like JFK and IAD get praises and then you have this one that is rather disappointing.
Looked promising but appearances can be deceiving.
The lounge was crowded and divided into smaller sections. Catering was not very good and lacked variety.
View from the lounge.
Some salads soup and hummus with pita. The rest is packaged stuff from what I saw.
Another full room in the back.
Boarding commenced in an orderly fashion.
Plane at C8 gate.
FA was greeting pax at the door and distributing sanitizing wipe.
My seat 11D
Cabin.
Nice legroom in Econ Plus.
The row across from me.
Beverage service with a choice of snacks served from a tray. Surprised to see something new offered.

Summary:
The AMEX lounge in IAH was full but the design is modern and the catering is good. I originally planned to visit the KL lounge but was referred to the AF one due to capacity issues. The AF lounge was disappointing. It was too crowded with limited catering of fresh items. The design looked like a maze with the lounge divided into different sections. I think AF lounges abroad tend to suffer from inconsistencies with some better than others.
This was a regular UA flight with standard beverage service. FA's were efficient and thankfully the flight was not too long.

Thanks my friend for this report. Can't wait to see AX lounges.
Idk if you notied lately, Amex opened a lounge in LHR. Something you have to check !
Maybe one of these days I will get a chance to check out the AMEX intl ones.
Gracias Amigo,
I should subscribe the amex but it comes with a hefty price tag. UA is on par with my expectations.
A good report JetSet, I'm impressed by the lounge. Thank you for sharing this nice report.
Wonderful Panda
I can't deny I'm in love with Amex Lounges even if they are a tad busy most of the time.
Hi
How can you step in the AF lounge? United is not a skyteam carrier!!!!!!
thank you for the report of this good fligth.
bye
You are right about UA but with the AMEX Plat card you get access to their AX Centurion lounges, Priority Pass clubs which include a few AF lounges and DL Skyclubs (when you fly any DL flight). ;)
Hi Panda!
Nice lounge report but the AF one is just...
A nice short flight with "food and drinks", lol!
Thank you for sharing Adan.
Take care
The AF lounge in IAH was very mediocre. I would love to visit the one in JFK and IAD one of these days.
See you.
