Prologue:

After a restful night in ATH it's time to return to TLS. Thankfully my flight is in the afternoon so there is no need to rush.

I had some high expectations for this LH flight since this is one of the longer intra-European routes and I was looking forward to the Heimat menu and tasting thet meals.

We took the ATH metro and arrived at the airport without any issues.

It's a long walk from the metro station to the terminal.

Thankfully it was empty and we were checked in quickly. I don't know what happened but our seat assignments were changed and couldn't get the original seats. The staff at the counter lounge and at the gate tried their best.

Reception desk. The lounge is divided into 2 sections with the main buffet on the left side.

The LH lounge @ ATH is not very big but the catering is generous with a wide assortment of choices.

At the gate the airplane has not arrived yet.

Here it comes.

After the pax deplaned and the cabin cleaned we finally boarded.

I looked over oauf who was in front of me. I felt like a cat hovering at its prey.

Service commenced with beverages.

I don't think this is thorough and proper cleaning.

I ordered a tomato juice with nuts. No menus presented unfortunately.

By the time the FA came to me with the meal order only the vegetarian choice was left which was some type of stuffed pastry.

I'm not high maintenance so I accepted my meal gracefully. :P

Proper utensils.

OK meal. It fills you up but it's not something that you will crave later.

After the trays were cleared coffee or tea were offered along with apples or chocolates.

As you can see I had both.

Summary:

LH is usually a reliable and consistent airline. I was surprised that my seat assignment was changed and to be honest I think that this is one of the very few times that this has happened to me. The staff did their best to try to get my original seat but unfortunately the flight was full.

The LH lounge at ATH is probably the best one in that airport in terms of catering. There were plenty of good choices and that was appreciated. The only minus was the coffee machine not working but these things can happen. However this is a small lounge with 2 sections and it can get pretty crowded. The staff at this lounge was top notch with a friendly attitude.

My flight was somewhat disappointing with a lack of printed menu having seen that previously there was one offered on this route. Maybe LH is in a cost cutting mode. The lack of a meal choice also contributed to the disappointment and the meal was just average. The only positive was the crew who was professional and efficient.

Lovely lounge and many choices, you should have eaten a lot more in the lounge. Not the best meal in the air. Gracias Amigo!

Have you been to A3 lounge too on that leg ? The lounge is even better than my previous stay. You can't leave being hungry. The flight itself is below average.

We paid a quick visit but did not stay for long. Like I said in terms of food I think LH is the best at ATH.

Woof ! JetSetPanda !

A nice flight.
Lounge is small and catering was really correct.
On board, our FA was very professional, scenery was beautiful. And i was lucky I had the choice for my meal;))

Yes the size of the LH is not optimal but the food makes up for it. ;)
