Prologue:

Welcome to this short one day trip to LAX. I had a $70 credit on AA that had to be used by the end of last month so I decided to go someplace near and quick so LAX fit the criteria.

Originally I was booked on a 10:00A flight but since I woke up earlier I just headed to the airport and tried to standby for the 7:30A flight. Lately AA has cut a lot of routes out of SFO and it felt like the company has given up on this market. SFO-LAX used to be operated by mainline AA and Skywest but now it has been reduced to only Skywest flights doing 3 flights per day. I remember when LAX was a focused city for AA on the West Coast with flights to LHR and NRT with plenty of frequency between SFO-LAX for flyers to connect there.

T1 @ SFO. The AF lounge was still closed so I went straight to the AA gates.

The terminal is modern and spacious. Just the right size for AA ops.

I inquired about a standby for this flight and the agent placed me on the list.

After boarding commenced I approached the gate to inquire and was issued my boarding pass. To my surprise I was assigned an extra legroom seat in the front and I don't have status with AA or Oneworld.

FA greeted pax as they boarded and here's a view of the cabin.

We are at the remote terminal for American Eagle flights where we have to take a bus to get to the main terminal.

Summary:

A solid experience with a friendly crew on today's flight. This is a very short flight that sometimes clock 1 hr or less. The best part are the views upon descent at either LAX or SFO so grab a window seat.
