Prologue:
After 2 nights in Singapore it was time to head to ZRH. I’m on the SQ flight to ZRH at 1:35am. I might sound crazy but well… You know me.My wife needs to catch a flight at 9:30am. I have 2 choices: remain in the airport or go back to the hotel. I let you guess what choice I have made.
While checking-in the agent told me that I’m very far in advance. I’m getting the BP with the golden stub on it.
At first the guy at security told me that it's too early to get in. After 2 min of talk he let me go.
This one is heading to SYD.
Let’s head to the lounge where I’ll be spending 16h. Outstanding… While I’ve done it a lot in the in the past (QR FCL) there was a bed to sleep. Not in TPR which makes sense.
Here we are.
SQ might be one of the best in the Air on the ground it’s another story.. The lounge isn’t huge and the catering provided was average at best. I’m now hungry yet when I arrive so I order a Cappuccino and work on my laptop.
At 5pm I take a shower and head back to the restaurant since the menu is different.
Lunch starts at 10:30. I start with satays they were good but I preferred the ones from MH.
For the meal I take the lamb with rosemary sauce. The lamb was all but tender and the strong sauce killed the meal.
I try the fish. Fair.
Je sors un peu me changer les idées et faire du shopping pour la famille.
Back to the lounge I’m a wreck. Needless to say that finding a place to crash and sleep was not the easiest thing. I went to the small room with a comfy chair (not for sleeping). I still managed to rest for 1h30.
I take the lobster where I believe he left the taste in the sea. Never mind. I did not insist and worked until boarding.
Before boarding we have to go through security.
I’m the first to board.
Despite being tired I’m like a kid in front of a candy store.
I have had the chance to fly EY Apartment paying $19 thanks to my AA miles collected by my credit card. I have to say I tend to prefer SQ but both are great.
The Suite in Huge it’s still a magical moment months after the flight itself.

Tonight’s menu is light but it a late departure. But no worries I did order Book The Cook in advance.
The little screen to control the TV.
The pajama is good and still use it at home ?
The bathroom/wc is huge.
Time to take off. It’s smooth you don’t really feel it unlike the 77W.
Sparkling water for me.
The starter arrives it’s fresh and good but not enough caviar for my liking ?
Enjoying my garlic bread.
The soup was superb !
I booked the lamb while it was beyond rare it was juicy and so tasty.
I still had to try the menu.. I picked the lobster and it was so-so.
The desert was very good and god knows how picky I am it terms of sweet. I love everything simple and not fancy.
I went to the wc while the charming FA is preparing my bed.
There is a worst bed to sleep 9h.
After 8 hours of sleep I’m ready for another feast.
While I made Book The Cook request I told them that nothing is really appealing and I’d rather have a dinner meal served for my BF. The agent on the phone was not sure I will get it.
It’s just gorgeous. I start with fruits and cereals.
Then my meal arrives. Lobster (No I’m not lobster obsessed but I try to make the most of my journey) Very appealing and so tasty. Look at big it is. Hard to finish it.
Since my wife is Chinese I went for the Chinese BF. Not fan !
Unfortunately it’s already the end…

Summary:
It’s hard not to love such a magnificent product. My FA was awesome but it’s mostly always the case.While in the air SQ remains at the top, on the ground it’s another topic. Stunned to see such a gap between the ground and the experience in the air.

Ils ont enlevé le foie gras du burger : gros fail du au cost cutting :(

D'ailleurs la carte varie si peu entre déjeuner et diner qu'on a du mal
à en comprendre l'existence de la carte du diner si ce n'est pour économiser
la langouste
A bord, c'est grand, c'est beau mais c'est loin du hublot.
Pour un vol de nuit ça passe mais sinon c'est dommage
Ce "souper" permet d'économiser sur les satays
Le menu ne fait pas rêver
Les snacks c'est même pire

Sans la photo agrandie on ne le voit pas : les quantités sont bien trop faibles,
y compris pour le foie gras qui ressemble d'ailleurs davantage à du pâté
Un excellent repos dans ce lit mais le contraire doit être difficile

Le carré d'agneau et la langouste thermidor ont toujours été les meilleurs
plats SQ et ils semblent le demeurer.
Un bon vol avec SQ dont les PNCs sont une valeur sure et l'expérience au sol, ainsi que,
je trouve, le catering à bord sont les maillons faibles

ReplyQue dire ? En fait beaucoup. Le salon est quand meme pas normal. Pas pour SQ. En revanche en vol, c'est beau c'est top. Du coup entre LX et SQ tu preferes quoi ?

Dommage le salon qui n’est pas à la hauteur du reste du produit et ce PIF avant d’embarquer...

- That is quite unexpected. If LH lounges have compartments for sleeping there is no excuse for SQ TPR not to have them.

- I agree with you 100%, especially with *A Gold members having to use the Krisflyer lounge instead of the true Business one @ SIN. Looking at the food display from the buffet I don't get the sense that they are that elaborate and appealing.

- Only a throne seat will do for me. ;) I'm really not a high maintenance passenger - trust me.
The seat looks very comfy with great privacy. However I'm not a fan of the decoration on the walls and sliding door. It kind of reminds me of the movie "Predator" and the weapon on the alien's arm. :P

- A sign of quality if you can reuse them after a few washes.
Your taste for movies is "interesting". A teaser before the meal perhaps? ;) I'm sure it helps to whet the appetite.

L'espace à bord, la présentation, le service sont d'une parfaite fluidité. A déguster. Jusqu'au bout.
Ou presque : 007 à qui on ne la fait pas, perçoit tout de même quelques aspérités...3 fois rien.
Au final, et bien, on est quand même content d'avoir la langouste au petit-déjeuner.
