Prologue:
Last time I flew LX in First was in 2012 so quite a long time ago and I only flew the 340 and 330. The 777 takes LX FC to another level and on par with the current FC on major airlines. I also was looking forward to their new First Class Lounge.Is LX overrated. Let's find out.
I arrived from FRA to the Terminal A. I went there to get the transfer to the E gates.
Waiting for a driver.
After a short ride I'm eventually there.
Check-in was quick and requested a room.
One of the best bed I've slept on. With a F view.
The bathroom is huge.
Before taking a well deserved nap it was time to explore the lounge.

I went to the restaurant.

Unfortunately most of the meals were out of stock..... Come'on it's 3 pm.. Instead of saying what's left I was picking and the waiter just said no over and over... Ping pong discussion... As much as I love and practice Ping-Pong this is not First Class experience.
Unfortunately the terrace is closed.
The soup was excellent and so were the raviolis.
I was left with only fondue option or get more starters... Great ! As you can see I took ground beef and it was a bad choice...
Fat and tasteless.
Since I can't get to the terrace I left the lounge to go to the roof top.
The view is nice and so is the weather.

Spending more than 12h in this condition is a bliss.

In the meantime I was served my veal but the conversation was so long and passionate with the captain that the crew had to re-heat it again.
Still it was perfectly cooked.
I take the two desert to top off an excellent meal.
Sorry guys time to rest... the bed was great I managed to rest over 8h !

Breakfast was served. All good.
Excellent capuccino.
Presentation was not there but the taste was.
An airline I used to take every week.
When I talked to the captain. He invited me to the flight deck after landing.. I was like a kid...

Summary:
On the one hand, I had a near perfect flight with a great crew and food and on the other the Lounge was a disappointing experience. I guess I had too much expectations:The pros :
- The view
- The bedroom is a big plus when you have a long layover
The cons:
- The food was so so, many items missing and it was only 3pm...
- The terrace was closed for no reason.. And remained closed throughout my stay.
- Staff, once again I was hoping for a stellar service but instead they were arrogant and condescending.
It was surely a bad day but not something you would expect when you fly LX.
The crew on my flight deserved a 10. I loved chatting with the Captain for nearly 30 min and gave me a chance to seat on the 777 cockpit.

La cabine est très belle, les mets et boissons de qualité et que dire de l'équipage qui a l'air d'avoir au top aussi. Ca me rappelle un vol ça!
En revanche même si le salon est super, ces chambres AF devrait s'en inspirer pour rendre encore meilleure son salon AF (du pinaillage je sais!) et ta fondue me fait de l'œil, mais l'expérience est gâchée à cause de la restauration et du coup l'expérience globale en prend un sérieux coup. C'était peut-être un jour sans, mais à ce niveau d'exigence et de tarif on a pas le droit!

What a fantastic TR!!!! That makes every single problem and inconvenience that you encountered up to this point worth it, doesn't it? ;)
With the exception of the lounge experience this was a great flight. I'm really surprised at the level of service that you received from the LX F lounge. How on earth can a F lounge be without food? Unbelievable. Why bother showing the menu in that case? On the other hand the bed on the lounge is a dream. It seems so tempting to just sleep in.
Once inside the plane the cabin looks modern and cozy. Service seemed flawless and the food is well presented. It would be interesting to see a side by side comparison of this F product against AF.
The special treatment that you received from the captain is priceless. So now we know where your iconic profile pic came from. ;)
ReplyImpressive TR Thomas ! The lounge issue should not have happened in First Class. Nice bed in the lounge indeed. The flight was a great experience. Bastard ! So lucky to get to seat on the Captain's seat. Ready to take-off ?

Un très beau salon et une vue superbe.
Une chambre très confortable qui permet d'oublier le CAI-FRA
Par contre le restaurant est vraiment décevant : la carte n'est pas très fournie
mais il n'y a pas grand chose de disponible et la viande n'est pas bonne
A bord une cabine agréable et un siège moderne et confortable
Un menu avec plusieurs choix qui font envie
"Pas bcp mais suffisant pour un vol de nuit."
Je trouve ça très radin tout de même
Un excellent repas avec les trois tours de Balik ;)

ReplyPutain, c'est vraiment une belle cabine et que dire des PNC et du CDB. Le salon mise a part la vue et la chambre... Merci pour ce TR qui fait rever !

Le salon First n'est donc pas au top en solide a 15h mais en revanche quel coin pour spotter !
La cabine parait très belle et agréable, et la visite du cockpit au top ! C'est ps souvent qu'ils acceptent... les plus sypmpa pour le moment ont été KLM avec nous ;-)
Le repas semble tres soigné.
Et la vue au reveil, finalement t'as la meme en Y mais la c'est le combo : vue dans cette position et ce confort lol
( en Y t'aurais encore plus profité de la vue lol )

L'expérience au sol est décevante même si les chambres sont une très bonne idée.
A bord, c'est tout simplement superbe et le catering donne envie.
